People had gathered to condemn the government’s attacks on the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a separatist organization officially regarded as a terrorist movement.The official death toll has been put at 97, with an estimated 250 wounded. However, others put both totals much higher.

Diane Spier, of Drasco, died peacefully in her home on Dry Mountain Road after a long struggle with cancer. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota March 2, 1948, Diane was 67 at the time of her death.
