Concord’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held Saturday December 6 beginning at 5:30 p.m. The ceremony will begin at the Concord Park. Following the ceremony, there will be caroling and refreshments at Concord City Hall.  “Everyone is invited. This is a wonderful opportunity to visit with your neighbors. The weather should be beautiful and it is a perfect time to celebrate the season. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be there to take pictures with the children. We will have apples, oranges, hot cocoa, coffee, and fresh baked cookies as refreshments,” said Jayne Pettit, City Clerk for Concord. Jackie Rone, coordinator of the ceremony for the past five years, stated, “The caroling is always fantastic. The local Girl Scouts and a group of children from the Lighthouse Church will be singing. Last year about 150 people came out to partake in the event. The ceremony is a wonderful way to support the community. It is a great program for children and families.” At the ceremony Rone will be serving her famous Wasil, a Christmas cider made with a variety of juices.  The Oak Grove Youth Group and other singing groups will all entertain the crowd with Christmas music. Bring your children so that they can meet Mr. and Mrs. Claus. The ceremony will take place rain or shine. The public is invited. Come enjoy this festive, community event with us!
