Mary Agnes Howell of Ida passed away August 21, 2009 at Southridge Nursing Home at the age of 91.
Mary Agnes Howell of Ida passed away August 21, 2009 at Southridge Nursing Home at the age of 91. She was born November 8, 1917 at Black Rock to H.A. Porter and Mary Agnes (Tate) Porter.
She married Herman Howell in 1935 and he passed away in 1970. They had one son, Gene Howell of Ida; two daughters, Betty Crawford and husband, H.L. of Ida and Mary Godush and husband, Jim, of Ida; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
She was a member of the Church of Christ at Banner, a lifelong Christian who loved her Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 35 years; two brothers, Howard and Cecil Porter of Lake City; three sisters, Ruth Fisher of Black Oak, Etta Lee Baker of Lake City and Elsie Vaughn of Ft. Smith.
Agnes worked at Gibson’s in Heber Springs from the time that it opened until it closed. She loved being among people and never met a stranger, she would help anyone in need.
Funeral services were held August 24 at Olmstead Funeral Home with John Hitt officiating. Interment was in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers were Wendell Crawford, Randy Crawford, Dalton Crawford, Ben Crawford, Brian Crawford and Matthew Howell.
