Milbra Mae Stone Dollar Brewer went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, August 20, 2009, at the Conway Regional Hospital. She was 92 years old.
Mrs. Brewer was born on March 13, 1917, to Charles Wesley Stone and Nettie Bittle Stone of Shiloh. She had spent her entire life in the Greers Ferry, and Lone Star Community except for the past four years as a resident of the Heritage Living Center in Conway.
On April 10, 1943, she married Joseph Leonard Dollar. Their marriage was blessed with four daughters: Lena, Earlene, Virginia, and Patsy.
On August 16, 1953, Mrs. Brewer was left a widow when her husband passed away. At the time of his death, her oldest daughter was nine years old and the youngest was an infant. Mrs. Brewer was truly a woman of courage and faith, and trusted the Lord to help her rear and provide for her daughters. As a life-long member of Lone Star Baptist Church, her spiritual gifts were unquestionable. Through her God-given talents she was able to raise a big garden each year which provided most of the food needed for her family. She took on sewing and quilting and sold milk and butter to make money for other family needs.
Her friends and neighbors can attest to the fine cook she was. She enjoyed cooking for others and generously shared her garden vegetables with several neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Joseph Leonard Dollar; her second husband, George Howard Brewer; brothers, Irvin, Charles, James, Dewey, and T. J. Stone; sisters, Ruby Stark, Ettie Dunn, and Mary Brinkley; a half- brother, Roy E. Stone; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth DeAnn Fife.
At the time of her death she was survived by a half-sister, Laveta Stone Smith of Lepanto; her four daughters, Lena (Carl) Barger of Conway; Earlene (Bill) Brecheen of Clinton; Virginia (J. W.) Helm of Junction City; and Patsy (Brickey) Fife of Hope; a step-son, Roger (Mary) Brewer of Greers Ferry; two step-daughters, Howardean (Corbet) Smith of Greers Ferry and Velma Dollar; eight grandchildren: Carla Barger (Brent) Phillips of Boise, Idaho; Jeffrey Barger of Austin, Texas; Curt (Donica) Barger of Ashdown; Sarah Helm (Joseph) Pemberton of Hamburg; Amanda Helm of Killeen, Texas; Dr. Rachel Helm of Astatula, Fla.; Vanessa Fife (Casey) Hendrix of Little Rock; Valerie Fife (Chris) Sundberg of Hope; and two step-grandchildren: Missy Brewer (Greg) Carr and Pam Brewer (Randy) Linebarger of Greers Ferry.
Mrs. Brewer is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Hannah, Hayden, and Houston Phillips of Boise, ID; Abigail and Clayton Pemberton of Hamburg; Addison and Jon Curtis Barger of Ashdown; Samuel Hendrix of Little Rock; with #9, baby boy Sundberg expected in December; and three step great-grandchildren: Brook, Brittany, and Brandon Carr of Greers Ferry.
Funeral services, officiated by J. W. Helm and Rondal Richardson, were held on August 23 at the Lone Star Baptist Church, Greers Ferry, with burial, officiated by Joseph Pemberton, following at the Sunny Slope Cemetery, Edgemont.
Pallbearers were Jeffrey Barger, Curt Barger, Joseph Pemberton, Greg Hutto, Todd Gray, and Casey Hendrix.
