After a slow start, Rose Bud Coach Steve Rose estimated his Ramblers rolled up 220-250 yards in Tuesday’s scrimmage on the road against McCrory.
“We didn’t play well the first eight minutes. We went three and out then had a pick-six but after that I thought we played about even over the next eight minutes,” said Rose.
Rose said running back Jimmy Smith looked particulary impressive with his hard-nosed running but the passing game got off to a slow start as McCrory brought a heavy rush.
Quarterback Nick Cartwright  eventually settled in and completed 14-of-23 passes with one interception.
“We were more physical than I’ve ever seen us be. They were also big and physical so that will help out down the line,” said Rose.
The Ramblers open their regular season with a non-conference game at Quitman next Friday at 7 p.m.
