Arkansas is like Washington. Our state has entitlement programs that it cannot afford. Like federal programs, Medicaid is projected to face a massive shortfall of up to $250 million in less than 10 months – this is according to the Arkansas Department of Health Services. Republicans in the legislature worked hard to shine a spotlight on this looming crisis by recently proposing an alternative state budget that reduces Gov. Mike Beebe’s $4.7 billion budget by $21 million. If state lawmakers can’t find ways to reduce our budget today, where will we find the money to a fund this projected Medicaid shortfall next year? Thank you Arkansas Republicans for working to hold state government accountable to hardworking Arkansas taxpayers who depend on the benefits that Medicaid provides.
