  • Heber Jr. Girls capture title for 1-4A division

  • The Heber Springs Junior Lady Panthers compiled 70 points at the Eagle Bank Junior Relays, which was good for fourth place overall and first place in the 1-4A division of the 13-team girls’ division. Class 5A Batesville (134) won the meet, Class 7A North Little Rock East placed 2nd (97) and Class 5A Vilonia finished 3rd (92) ¬ 22 points ahead of Heber.

  • The Heber Springs Junior Lady Panthers compiled 70 points at the Eagle Bank Junior Relays, which was good for fourth place overall and first place in the 1-4A division of the 13-team girls’ division. Class 5A Batesville (134) won the meet, Class 7A North Little Rock East placed 2nd (97) and Class 5A Vilonia finished 3rd (92) ¬ 22 points ahead of Heber.
    Heber’s Junior Boys placed 8th overall with 22.5 points in their 16-team meet. Vilonia won the boys’ division with 152.5 points, North Little Rock East finished 2nd (107) and Class 5A Sylvan Hills placed 3rd (84). Class 3A Riverview (41) finished with the best score amongst schools in divisions 1-4A.
    For the Jr. Lady Panthers, Keleah Maples placed 3rd in the 100 (13.70) and Erin Rezanka took 6th (14.13). Rezanka also placed 5th in the 200 (28.81), while Alyssa Uphoff (5th, 1:09.03) and Stephanie Music (8th, 1:11.73) each earned points in the 400.
    Three Heber athletes placed in the 300 hurdles as Maples finished 4th (53.38), Courtney Kendall was 5th (54.75) and Alison Thomas 7th (55.01).
    Katherine Gilbrech placed 6th in the 800 (2:48.64) and Paige Lawson finished 6th in the discus (67’2”). In the high jump, Music took 6th (4’6”) and Thomas was 7th (4’4”), while Kelsi Davison placed 7th in the long jump (13’8”) and Music was 8th (13’7”).
    Music also placed 5th in the triple jump (29’5”), just in front of Rezanka (6th, 28’9.75”).
    Heber’s 4 x 100 relay team of Uphoff, Kelsi Davison, Kortney Davison and Rezanka placed 2nd with a time of 55.76. Heber’s 4 x 400 relay team of Music, Thomas, Kelsi Davison and Uphoff placed runner-up with a mark of 4:47.44 and Heber’s 4 x 800 relay team of Adrianna Simmons, Isabella Creasey, Gilbrech and Kendall finished 4th (11:32.59).
    Malachi Cannon paced the Jr. Panthers, finishing 2nd in the 1600 (4:51.36) and 6th in the 800 (2:20.55). Tre Hess tied for 6th in the high jump (5’2”) and Patrick Hill took 7th in the pole vault (8’6”).
    Rounding the Jr. Boys’ point total, the 4 x 800 relay team of Josh McCarty, Julian Ervin, Hunter Drexler and Cannon finished 3rd with a time of 9:22.14.
    Heber’s Jr. High teams host the 2-4A conference track meet on Thursday with field events starting at 3:30 p.m. at Panther Stadium.
