  • Marshall announced earlier this week that it will be cancelling its football season due to lack of participation. The Class 3A Bobcats reportedly only had 12 players come out for practice. Marshall's defection leaves Quitman scrambling for a new scrimmage partner. The Bulldogs were originally scheduled to scrimmage at Marshall on Thursday, Aug. 23, but Quitman Coach Fritz Heidenreich said Wednesday his team is searching for a replacement. On Sept. 7, Week 2 of the regular season, Rose Bud was scheduled to play at Marshall in non-conference game. Realizing the possible cancellation on Monday, Rose Bud Coach Steve Rose said he would like to find a replacement for Week 2. On Wednesday, Rose said his staff is “scrambling” to try and find a new opponent.
