  • Auditions for the Arkansas State University-Beebe upcoming fall theater productions will be held Wednesday, Aug. 22 and Thursday, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Owen Center Theater on the Beebe campus.

The fall theater productions will include “Beautiful Untrue Things” by Bruce Cohen, set for Oct. 8, 9, and 10, and Oct. 24-27. This is a contemporary, dark-comic adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s “Importance of Being Earnest.”

“The Merchant of Venice” by William Shakespeare, is set for Nov. 12, 13, and 14. Whether you call it a comedy or tragedy, this play is Shakespeare’s most well-known ‘problem play’ and offers some of Shakespeare’s most complex and intriguing characters and moral quandaries.

The public is welcome to audition. Participants may perform a prepared monologue or readings from the script will be provided. Call-back auditions, if necessary, will be announced after the auditions.

For more information, contact Bruce Cohen, assistant professor of theater, at (501) 882-8925 or view the ASU-Beebe website at www.asub.edu.
