Gretchen Chapman died October 4, 2012

  Gretchen L. (Nelson) Chapman, age 90, of Quitman, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012, at her home.  Born in Rose Bud on January 18, 1922, she was the daughter of the late F. M. and Mary Colon Griffitt Nelson.
     Mrs. Chapman was a homemaker and minister's wife.  She was an encourager to her husband  Rev. John Robert Chapman, who served in Methodist churches located throughout Arkansas, including Rose Bud, Cherry Valley, Holly Grove, Cabot, Van Buren, Brinkley, Marked Tree, Tuckerman, Batesville, and Greers Ferry.  Mrs. Chapman was a member of the Quitman United Methodist Church.  
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on June 26, 2011.
     Mrs. Chapman is survived by three sons, Larry Chapman and his wife, Janice, of Quitman, Robert Chapman and his wife, Vickey, of Farmersville, Texas, and Nelson Chapman and his wife, Linda, of Commerce, Texas; one brother, Oren Leslie Nelson of Yantis, Texas; one sister, Rachel Martin of Bald Knob; eight grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren. Mrs. Chapman is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.
     Visitation was held Saturday, Oct. 6, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home.  Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 7, at 2:00 p.m. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Dave Caswell officiating.  Interment will follow in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens.  Richard Chapman, Keith Chapman, Kyle Chapman, Michael Chapman, Steven Chapman, and Mark Chapman  served as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearer is Robert Dale Chapman.  Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home.
