Charlie Blankenship died October 7, 2012

     Charles Edward Blankenship "Charlie", age 72, of Heber Springs, died October 7th, 2012 - having done what he loved most - fishing with Benny Hargrove.

     He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Elizabeth; three daughters, Charlotte and husband John Griffith of Jonesboro, Gretchen Humphreys of Heber Springs, and Ashley Blankenship of Conway; three grandchildren, Katherine Tubbs, Hugh and Selden Humphreys, a multitude of friends and his faithful dog Riley.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Tucker and Mildred Blankenship.

     Charlie attended the University of Arkansas where he was a lifetime member of Pi Kappa Alpha and Arkansas State University.  In 1976 he moved to Heber Springs after purchasing the Heber Springs Bank with his dad.  In 1978, Charlie and his dad also purchased Big John Tree Transplanter Mfg., Inc.  His great passions were hunting and fishing and he was fortunate to have done both worldwide.  He was a lifespan member of Ducks Unlimited, Safari Club International, and a member of the Turkey Federation as well as served on the Heber Springs Police Commission.

     An avid reader, he was a supporter of the Cleburne County Library, The Youth Hunt Outreach Program and Cleburne County 4-H.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to one of these organizations at P. O. Box 960, Heber Springs, Arkansas  72543.

     A memorial service was held Tuesday, October 9th, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs.
