  • At 2:50 pm, Monday, October 15, Alice Juanita Vandiver of Heber Springs entered the nicest, safest, and very best of all places. She will be in the thoughts of all who knew and loved her, in the prayers being offered for her, and safely held in the hands of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born February 8, 1926 to Andy and Alma Hamilton of Griffithville, Arkansas.
Juanita accepted Christ as her Savior early in life and became a member of First Baptist Church of Griffithville. She married John in 1944 and they lived in Griffithville, Prairie Grove, Salem, & Russellville, Arkansas. They then moved to Waynesville, Missouri and returned to Heber Springs, Arkansas until retirement in 1986. Her first concern, before moving to a new home, was always to choose the church she would attend.  She looked extensively for opportunities to serve. She worked as a teacher and in other programs of the church. She excelled in her life of Christian service and only Christ was more selfless than she.
Juanita was a superb matriarch of her family. She looked for ways to enlarge her callings. She was an unselfish servant of her family and friends. She was dearly loved by everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Travis Hamilton, also of Griffithville, Arkansas.
Juanita is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, Dr. John Vandiver of Heber Springs; two daughters and their husbands: Kay and Dr. Larry Weathers of Rogers, Arkansas and Rebecca and LaMonte Bolding of Germantown, Tennessee; Five grandchildren—Tori Weathers, Dr. Tiffany Weathers, and Dr. Lance Weathers and wife, Natalie, all of Rogers, Arkansas—also Courtney and husband Warren Wilgus of Corrales, N.M. and Cassie Bolding of Germantown, Tennessee; and three great-grandsons; Nicholas, Alexander  and  Zachary Weathers, all of Rogers, Arkansas.
The family will greet friends in the sanctuary at First Baptist Church in Heber Springs at 12:45 PM, Thursday the 18th, where the service will begin at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at the White County Memorial Gardens on old highway #67 in Searcy, Arkansas approximately 4:00 PM.  Donations can be made to the First Baptist Church Friends for Life Program, in lieu of flowers.  Please share your memories of Juanita at the online guestbook www.dwightfamilyfuneral.com.  Arrangements by Family Funeral Service, 100 West Searcy Street, Heber Springs, AR 72543  501 362-2088
