Rose Bud's junior tandem of running back Cole Robertson and quarterback Christian Reynolds combined for 420 yards rushing and six touchdowns as the Ramblers ripped Perryville 55-25 while picking up their first 2-3A conference victory on a foggy homecoming Friday night at Rambler Stadium. Robertson, who finished with 187 yards on 15 carries, scored five times, including touchdown runs of 4, 5, 2, 1 and 8 yards. Reynolds added 233 yards and one touchdown on 19 rushes, while completing 12-of-15 passes for 241 yards and two more scores. Reynolds' touchdown run covered 48 yards. Senior receiver Spencer Starkey, who made five receptions for 112 yards, was the recipient of both touchdown passes, including a 28-yarder and 25-yarder. The Ramblers (3-3, 1-3) stayed in the 2-3A playoff race with the victory. “I thought we played fairly well,” said Rose Bud Coach Steve Rose. “We took care of the ball and were consistent on offense driving the ball. Defensively, we struggled at times against different option [plays] but we made the adjustments and shut them down eventually.” Rose Bud, which snapped a three-game losing skid, led 14-7 after the first quarter, 28-13 at halftime and 40-19 entering the fourth quarter. Senior receiver/defensive back Dillon Reesnes forced a fumble, which he recovered and had five catches for 90 yards before leaving the game with a shoulder injury late in the first half. “We are expecting him to be back,” said Rose. “It was just a situation where we didn't feel like we had to have him on the field. So, for precautionary measures we held him out.” Senior linebacker Osiris Jauregui paced the Ramblers' defense with 11 tackles. Perryville (1-6, 0-4) dropped its fifth straight game. Rose Bud travels to Bald Knob (2-5, 1-3) tomorrow night.
