Dewey Edward "Ed" Bradford, 76, of Higden, passed away October 22, 2012, at his home. Born in Higden on March 26, 1936, he was the youngest of the ten children (five boys and five girls) of the late George Washington and Lillie Belle (Rogers) Bradford. When he was nine months old, his mother passed away, and he was raised by his stepmother, Mae Belle (Barnum) Bradford.
Mr. Bradford attended West Side School. He was a retired plant manager of Welbilt Century Industries in Little Rock, where he worked for 45 years.
Mr. Bradford enjoyed his family, visiting with people, and playing long games of Rook. He was a Baptist and attended the Post Oak Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bradford was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Bradford; his stepmother; four brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Bradford of Higden; four children, Phyllis Knight and her husband, Bill, of Mineral Springs, Bryan Jay Bradford and his wife, Tracy, of Little Rock, Jerry Dean Bradford and his wife, Wanda, of Sherwood, and Paula Jean Reed and her husband, Charley, of Cabot; two sisters, Estel Chalk of Kokomo, Indiana, and Helen Nelson of Little Rock; twelve grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Mr. Bradford is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
Visitation will begin Thursday at 12:00 p.m. in the Olmstead Chapel with funeral services following at 1:00 p.m. , officiated by Bro. Dale Prather. Interment will follow in Higden-McLehaney Cemetery. Mike Nelson, Gene Cullum, Phil Blackwell, Derek Blackwell, Larry Cullum, Dale Bradford, and Robert Kelly will serve as pallbearers.
