Brian Tilley updated the council on its new 5,000 square foot construction plans during the regular scheduled council meeting last week. Tilley said pledges and grants to date as of October 18 was $2,243,409.88. Tilley told the council the cost to build a new library as previously planned was not going to be feasible so another plan to build around the current library was discussed. A power point presentation was shown to the council. Afterwards Zac Cothern handed each council member an original program guide and unused tickets to the dedication of the Greers Ferry Dam by President John F. Kennedy. Cothern was packing boxes with books and going through files when he found the memorabilia. During construction books will be stored in several off site locations to be announced later. Council members year for the next five years. Bids for the project will be taken in November with construction beginning in the first quarter of 2013.
