  • Cleburne County Division of Children and Family Services is once again looking to the community to help support and sponsor the many children they serve for the Christmas season.
The holidays are quickly approaching and CCDCFS is reaching out for your support. At any given time, Cleburne County is serving approximately 35 foster children. These are very special children who rely on the State of Arkansas to be their parents. They do not have the luxury of spending a wonderful holiday with their families; many are even in a shelter or hospital setting during this time of celebration. These children come from families where they have been severely abused and/or neglected. The State of Arkansas does not provide any funding for purchase of Christmas gifts for children in foster care. CCDCFS is totally dependent upon your generosity to ensure that these children will have a sparkle in their eye when they see that Santa visited them for the Holidays. Remember the excitement in your own child's face when he or she received a gift that Santa brought; imagine the sadness of a child who has no gifts to open Christmas morning and no family to visit. Christmas is a time of blessing, love, and sharing. These children have blessed people's lives and CCDCFS desperately needs your help to ensure that they are able to make this a very special day in the childrens' lives. They are asking that you look deep inside your hearts and help them with this very worthwhile project.
Cleburne County DCFS is asking that you contact them at 501-362-3298 to sponsor a child for Christmas. Once you make contact with one of the staff members to let them know you are interested in sponsoring a child or children for Christmas, you will be given a wish list that the child/ren or caregiver has filled out. You can then shop for the child/ren and wrap the gifts. The gifts can be brought to the Cleburne County DHS Office at 1521 W. Main St. in Heber Springs. These gifts will then be delivered to the children by the staff.
This community has always gone above and beyond to meet the needs of these children in the past and CCDCFS knows that the tradition will continue.
