  • On November 20, the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, Heber Springs High School, in conjunction with local law enforcement will be participating in an emergency drill.  This drill will be a role-play scenario in which the high school is placed on lockdown while law enforcement searches the campus for an “intruder” According to Coach Reese of HSHS, this drill will take place with students still on campus and will mark the first time teachers will be actively involved in this type of drill.  Hallways will be color coded to assist law enforcement in navigating their way around the school.  The drill will give teachers real time practice organizing students and evacuating classes in an effort to be prepared should the school ever be faced with that unfortunate situation.  Residents are reminded that this is just a drill; so do not be alarmed at the presence of law enforcement and emergency vehicles on the HSHS campus.
