Ralph E. Stone, 77, of Kokomo went to be with the Lord after a long battle with Parkinson Disease at 11:40 pm on December 15, 2012 at the Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo. He was born on December 24, 1934 in Cleburne County, Arkansas to Arthur Lee and Annie Dee (Birdsong) Stone. On May 12,1961 Ralph married Bonnie Maxwell at the First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.
Ralph attended school in Cleburne County AR, and served in the Army from 1955 to 1957. He retired from Continental Steel after 30 years. After retirement he also worked for A-Tran transport company and Zook Hardware. Ralph was a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. He was a Nascar fan, a bluegrass music enthusiast, and loved his grandchildren dearly.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie Stone of 51 years of marriage, son Gregory (Clona) Stone of Kokomo; daughter Gina Thomas of Kokomo, Deeana Evans of Russiaville; grandchildren Taylor Thomas of Kokomo, Erin Thomas of Beech Grove, Beronic Dukes of Russiaville, James Pearcy of Indianapolis, Alex Acosta of Kokomo; great grandchildren Christopher Bryan, Jacob Pearcy, Tanner Pearcy, Devon Majors, Cody Pearcy, Dylan Dukes, Thomas Dukes; brother Edward Leo (Dixie) Stone of Kokomo; brother in-law Wayne Todd of Heber Springs, AR; sister in-law Myra Cleopal Stone of Kokomo.
Preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Annie Stone; sisters Lorene Todd, Linda Stewart; brother Chester Stone; sister in-law Rexalee Stone.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday Dec. 19, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Shirley & Stout Funeral Home at 1315 W. Lincoln Rd. in Kokomo with Pastor Xavier Tabor officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home on Tuesday Dec. 18, 2012. Burial will take place at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery in Kokomo following the funeral service.
