  • West Side's Junior Eagles avenged two previous losses to Shirley with a thrilling 37-33 overtime victory over the Junior Blue Devils in the Greers Ferry Lake Classic championship game Saturday at Mount Vernon-Enola.
    Point guard Blaine Hipp led West Side (12-4) with 12 points, guard Randon Carlton followed with eight, guard Jake Lawson had seven, while forwards Mason Treece and Dalton Treece each scored six.
    The Jr. Eagles defeated Concord 32-20 last Thursday to reach the finals. Tied at 11-all at halftime, West Side outscored the Junior Pirates 21-9 in the second half to pull away as Lawson led the charge with 11 points, while Hipp, Mason Treece and Carlton each chipped in six.
    West Side also captured the Guy-Perkins Invitational Tournament championship earlier in the season.
