Harley Ray Burge, age 69, of Higden, Arkansas, departed this world on Saturday, December 29, 2012, to go home to Yahweh. Born in Lansing, Michigan, on September 21, 1943, he was the son of the late Ermie Herschel and Hazel Ruth (Coffey) Burge.
Mr. Burge was a retired truck driver and a veteran of the United States Air Force. Most importantly, he loved and trusted Yahweh, having been born again in 2008, baptized in Greers Ferry Lake in the name of Yah-oshua, the Messiah, for the forgiveness of sin. He had plans to go to the Philippines , but he understood Psalms 146:3-4 "Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal man, who can't save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing." Mr. Burge was not ashamed to speak to others about Yahweh, who saves, the only righteous God and Savior (Isaiah 45:21); the Root and Offspring of David (Rev. 22:16) to whom every knee shall bow and every tongue shall swear, saying: "Only in Yahweh and Righteousness and Strength" (Isaiah 45:24). His boast was in Yahweh, who delights to exercise His Love, Justice and Righteousness on this earth (Jer. 9:24), and who ascended on high and led captivity captive in his train (Psalms 68:18; Eph. 4:7-8).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and six sisters.
Mr. Burge is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Burge) Bechaz of Michigan; and four brothers, Larry (Burge) Stone, his caregiver, of Higden, Arkansas, Arthur David and Delbert David, both of Texas, and Forrest Wriggelsworth of Michigan; and a sister, Carmaleta "Leta" (Wade) Abbott of Arizona. Mr. Burge is also survived by other relatives and his many friends and a very special one, Maricar A. Torecampo of Cebu City, Philippines. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home. www.olmstead.cc
