Area schools Heber Springs, West Side, Concord and Pangburn have all placed bids to host a postseason tournament late this winter into spring. By virtue of placing the only bid, Heber Springs has already landed the Class 4A state track and field meet in early May along with both baseball and softball 4A East Regional Tournaments, also scheduled for early May. Additionally, Heber placed a bid to host the 4A State softball tournament as well along with Ashdown and Harrison. Heber also bid on the 4A East basketball tournament, which will be held Feb. 20-23, along with Cave City and Highland. Cave City hosted the regional tournament last year. Cave City and Highland also joined Heber in bidding for the Class 4A State basketball tournament, set for Feb. 26-March 2. Dumas, Lincoln and Maumelle also placed bids, making the Class 4A basketball tournament one of the most heavily sought after events of all the state tournaments in Arkansas. Pangburn, which opened its new gym last season, bid on the Class 2A North Regional basketball tournament (Feb. 20-23) along with Marmaduke, Rector and Sloan-Hendrix. Concord, West Side, Mount Vernon-Enola and Wonderview all bid on the Class 1A, Region 3 basketball tournament (Feb. 20-23), while West Side also made a bid for the Class 1A State basketball tournament to be held Feb. 26-March 2.
