Marilyn Jean Bowers passed away at Los Robles Care Center in Ojai, CA with her daughter Pam Grenier by her side on Friday, January 4, 2013, from Alzheimer’s. Marilyn was born in Hannibal, Missouri to Ruby McGee Uplinger and Harry Uplinger on November 17, 1935; she was 77. Marilyn attended Verdugo Hill School in Verdugo, CA.
In 1984 she earned her LVN from a Nursing School in Simi Valley, CA, which began her love for nursing and helping others. She worked as a nurse for several years in Ventura, CA and later in Arkansas. She later taught students to become nurse’s aids in Heber Springs, Arkansas.
Though Marilyn lived the last 2 years in Ventura, CA, she was a long-time resident of Heber Springs, Arkansas. She loved her home and neighbors, her Maltese dogs and loved to work in her yard.
Marilyn will be greatly missed and always loved by those she leaves behind: her daughter Pam Grenier, Ventura, CA and her husband Sonny and grandsons Chad & Cameron; daughter Kim Martinez, Longview, TX, grandchildren Ashley, Jason and Brianna as well as her great-grandson Rustin.
A memorial service will be held for Marilyn in Heber Springs, Arkansas when her daughter Pam returns her to rest beside her mom Ruby McGee at Macedonia Cemetery in Arkansas.
Pam & Sonny Grenier would like to thank Los Robles Care Center where Marilyn lived the last 7 months. They took such great care of her during her decline with Alzheimer’s. Words cannot express what a wonderful job they did with her everyday needs. You could always walk in anytime and see that she was happy and being well taken care of.
Also we would like to thank Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice.
