On Saturday, Cleburne County was hit with an all-day downpour that resulted in flooding and damage throughout the county. As of Monday morning, debris still littered the sidewalks on Main Street in Heber Springs. On the corner of 8th and Spring St, rains and wind uprooted a pine tree that had to be cut into sections to clear it from the street.
County Judge Jerry Holmes said damage to roads and properties are being looked at throughout the county, with major damage coming from some areas in the Ida and Drasco area. Judge Holmes reported that the county is out taking photos and assessing the damage and they are looking at submitting the information collected to FEMA to determine what options are available to the county. “It’s not quite a disaster, but it’s close,” said Holmes. “It could have been a lot worse.”
