Sharon Junkersfeld died January 17, 2013
Sharon Jean (Kirby) Junkersfeld the beloved wife of Gary Don Junkersfeld passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, AR from respiratory failure. Sharon lived her life as a loving mother, sister, grandmother and devoted wife. She treasured family memories and organized extended family gatherings. These wonderful events often centered on her wonderful barbeque ribs and beans, both at their home in Heber Springs and on the original 40 acre Junkersfeld/Hollenstein homestead near Pocahontas, AR.
A lover of her family, Sharon loved to sneak down to the lake to fish with her children and grandchildren. In addition to being a busy mother and grandmother, she also managed to accompany Gary on several construction sites. She engaged people with an open loving heart and beautiful smile. She instinctively knew who to hug and whom to give encouraging words along with her pat on the back. Sharon joins our Lord with her husband, lover and best friend Gary. We know that there was a wonderful time of rejoicing with that reunion.
On April 29, 1966, Sharon married her lifetime love and companion Gary Junkersfeld who preceded her in death on November 25, 2011. This union of love brought forth her pride and joy, her four sons, Gary, Donnie, Christopher and David.
Sharon is survived by her mother Doris Haymaker and brother Larry Kirby. Her father John and sister Sandra are deceased. Sharon developed a pet name for Gary when at the Junkersfeld/Hollenstein homestead. She would remark, “There goes my Daniel Boone,” as he walked into the wooded areas. She enjoyed raising her roses, gardening and fishing.
Sharon is survived by her sons Gary, Donnie, Christopher, David, her mother Doris Haymaker and brother Larry Kirby as well as 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and another expected soon, and countless nieces, nephews and cousins who will always cherish Sharon’s great love for them. The family plans a private memorial event. Eternal rest grant unto Sharon, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. St. Joseph pray for us. Amen. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 1002 Convent St., Pocahontas, Arkansas, 72455.
