  • Sherriel Dean Johnson of Hickory Flat went to be with the Lord March 1, 2013 at the age of 73.  He was born March 10, 1939 at Hickory Flat, Arkansas  to Daniel and Opal Ward Johnson.  
    He was retired from the Arkansas Forestry Commission.  In his early years he worked pipeline construction.  He was a member of the Harris Chapel Church where he served faithfully as Sunday School Superintendant, as a Sunday School Teacher and as a Church Trustee.  He was a member of the Pangburn Masonic Lodge #483 and the Pangburn Order of Eastern Star #501.  He loved and was loved by his family and neighbors.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Max L. Johnson, and a sister Janel Johnson Hahn.
    He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Martin Johnson; his son, Lynn Johnson of Prairieville, Louisiana; and his daughters, Carla Johnson Altom and her husband, Randy, of Hickory Flat, Arkansas, and Marla Johnson Engle and her husband, Lee, of Hickory Flat, Arkansas.  Mr. Johnson is also survived by five grandchildren and six great grandchildren; his brothers, Dale Johnson of Michigan and Larry Johnson and his wife, Judy, of Searcy, Arkansas; and his sister, Nelda Sexton and her husband, Richard, of Pangburn, Arkansas.  Mr. Johnson is also survived by other relatives and a host of many friends.
    The family wishes to express their appreciation to the doctors and Jana Aday for their special care.
    Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2013, from 4:00pm – 6:00 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home.
    Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 4, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. in the Olmstead Chapel, officiated by Bro. John Cates.  Pallbearers are Frankie Reaper, Eric Reaper, Michael Altom, Russell Gilbert, J.J. Stephens, and Benny Hensley.  Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Altom, Jesse Johnson, Robert Young, Cody Swaim, and the Arkansas Forestry Commission.  Interment with Masonic Rites will follow in the Henderson Cemetery.
