Noel Dean Staggs (March 17, 1942 – February 25, 2013)
Noel Dean Staggs was born March 17, 1942 in Heber Springs, Ark. The son of Osco Harrison Staggs and Alice Elizabeth Snellings Staggs, he was raised in Logansport, Ind. where he attended Logansport High School. He proudly served as a Boatswain’s Mate in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1966.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 51 years, Judy Ann Franklin Staggs.
He is also survived by one son, Scott Staggs and wife Kathey Staggs of Clarksville, Tenn. Three daughters; Shelly Kirk and husband Jason of Copperas Cove, Texas, Susan Dillinger of Pine Bluff, Ark., Stacy Peyton and husband Mike of White Hall, Ark. Two adoptive daughters; Martie Taylor and husband Joe of Monticello, Ark. and JoAnna Collins of Nashville, Tenn.
He had nine grandchildren; Jason, Eric, Danna, Kandice, Caleb, Brooke, Emily, Ashley, and Camryn. Great-grandchildren include Heather, Kayli, Malaina, Shelbi, Gatlin, Charli, Harper, Keanu, Gideon and one on the way, Weston. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He raised his family in Pine Bluff, Ark. where he worked for Cotton Belt/Union Pacific Railroad for more than 30 years. He retired to Heber Springs, Ark. in 2004.
Noel was an active Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader and an assistant Girl Scout leader. He spent 17 years as a Watson Chapel Volunteer firefighter and more than 20 years in the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Reserve.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Good Faith Carr United Methodist Church on March 9, 2013 at 2:00 pm.
