  • On Tuesday afternoon, a car at the intersection of 1st and Main St struck a 17-year-old boy.  According to official reports, police arrived on the scene to find the boy lying on the sidewalk in front of the old district court building with a bicycle beside him.  One eyewitness stated that it was like a scene out of a movie and the boy had gone over the hood of the car. The car that struck the boy was parked at a neighboring business.  Police identified the driver of the car as Marsha Ellen Ciervo, 62, of Heber Springs.  Officers reported noticing Ciervo had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes and after running her ID through dispatch learned that she was driving on a suspended driver’s license and also had a warrant out of Heber Springs.  Ciervo was arrested and taken to the Cleburne County jail where, after given multiple sobriety tests, she was charged with DWI.  A search of Ciervo’s purse revealed an empty pill bottle for Ritalin that was recently filled on February 8 with 90 pills.  Ciervo was charged with driving on a suspended license and DWI-Drugs.  The boy was taken to Baptist hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were reported to be significant, but non-life threatening.
