Gerald Rackley died March 15, 2013

Gearld Dee Rackley, 61, of Ida, passed away at his home Friday, March 15, 2013. He was the son of Erma Lee Rackley and the late Johnny Lee Rackley of Ida.

He was retired from First Electric after thirty-two years of dedicated service. He was called on by many customers and was always “Johnny on the spot”. He enjoyed his job and keeping everyone happy. Gearld wore many hats, some of those included: power guy, farmer, egg washer, Fletcher’s Coffee Club member, Papaw, Dad, husband, and comedian. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. Gearld will be truly missed by all.

Gearld was preceded in death by his son, Heath Lane Rackley; sister, Norma Lee Biggs; and brother-in-law, Cloyce Eddings.

He is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Doris Ann (Dill) Rackley; one son, Shane Rackley and wife, Sarah, of Heber Springs; three grandchildren: Jessi, Tanner, and Rachel Rackley. Gearld is also survived by one brother, Jerry and wife, Trish, of Drasco; two sisters: Nelda Eddings of Drasco and Marian Lloyd and husband, Bobby, of Russellville; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends.

Visitation was from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Heber Springs Funeral Home. Funeral service was 2:00 p.m. Monday at The Cowboy Church in Heber Springs with burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Please visit Gearld’s online obituary at or call 501-887-9152.
