Robert “Joel” Davis, age 77, of Heber Springs, Arkansas went to be with the Lord Sunday, April 7, 2013. He was born Wednesday, October 16, 1935 to the late Carney and Fleeta Waggoner Davis in Sharon, Tennessee. Joel was a loving and faithful husband, loving father and grandfather, a member of the Gideon’s International, and an avid duck hunter.
Joel honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps while being stationed in Hawaii and Japan. He also was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church in Heber Springs. Joel had a passion for spreading the cause of the Gideon’s’ International Group, and he enjoyed speaking on their behalf at any opportunity.
Joel is survived by his wife, Letha Carr Davis of the home. Joel had two sons, Robert J. (Stephanie) Davis, Jr. and Jonathan C. Davis; one granddaughter, Rebekah Davis; and numerous relatives and friends.
Visitation is scheduled for 12:00 P.M. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at First Assembly of God in Heber Springs. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at First Assembly of God with interment in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens.
