The Fourth Annual SIDS.Causes.Heartache fundraiser event was held at Spring Park April 6.
With plenty of sunshine on hand, the event got off to a successful start with a day full of activities. "It was a beautiful day and we had a wonderful and successful event," Paige Hipp said.
Hipp, along with her husband, Clint, began the fundraiser event in support of the American SIDS Institute after losing their four-month-old son, Sky Charles Hipp to SIDS on March 17, 2009. "This event is in loving memory of our angel Sky Charles Hipp," Hipp said.
Events included a 5K Walk/Run for Awareness, a car and bike show, a Poker Run by Next of Kin MC, Cut-A-Thon, rummage sale, face painting, bounce house, bake sale, t-shirt and bracelet sale, silent auction, live entertainment including Dana Leigh & Moore and Chris Cameron, and funnel cakes. "The Ida Volunteer Fire Department cooked barbecue as well," Hipp said.
"We could not have done any of this with out all our wonderful volunteers, family, friends, donators, and supporters," Hipp said. "We appreciate all they did to help our event be so successful. We ended up raising $6,000."
According to Carla Wells The Next of Kin MC raised $1473.03 for the cause by hosting the Second Annual SIDS.Causes.Heartache Poker Run.
"We are so blessed to have lived in Heber Springs and be a part of this wonderful and supportive community," Hipp said.
Plans are already underway for the Fifth Annual SIDS.Causes.Heartache Fundraiser Event.
