  • Mindy Lahiri (Mindy Kaling) has come a long way since drunkenly crashing her bike into a pool on The Mindy Project's series premiere, but just how much further is she willing to go? All the way to Haiti, perhaps, to follow her boyfriend Casey (Anders Holm)?Check out the new fall shows!Right when it seems Mindy's found real love, Casey drops the bomb that he's going to volunteer in Haiti for a year. With her biological clock ticking, that leaves Mindy with two choices: breakup or go with him. "She has a lot to potentially lose by going [to Haiti]. But at the same time Pastor Casey is somebody that she has amazing chemistry with and I don't think she's felt this way about anybody since Josh," Ed Weeks, who plays Jeremy, tells TVGuide.com.And while we've all come to love Casey - especially after he brawled with Bill Hader! - if Mindy were to go with him, that would mean leaving her friends behind. And by friends, we really just mean Danny (Chris Messina), her co-worker and possible One True Pairing. Then again, since his ex-wife Christina has returned, things between Danny and Mindy have slowed down. Though, that doesn't mean Mindy/Danny 'shippers won't have something to look forward to in the finale. "There's a true moment in the episode where it's kind of undeniable that there's something between the two of them," says Ike Barinholtz, who doubles as one of the show's writers and the dopey nurse Morgan. This moment won't be the typical, sexy sass-fest we're used to either. "I remember [Messina] saying it had been a strangely emotional scene to shoot. I think it was probably a moment of tenderness and honesty between the two of them that we may not have seen before as it looks like their futures might diverge," Weeks explains.Fox's 2013-14 fall scheduleIf Mindy were to follow Casey to Haiti, that would be a huge step for someone who previously stated that her life goal was to "marry old and then, when the guy died, inherit all of his money." But while Mindy was very uncompromising about her lifestyle in the past, Casey has inspired her to try and improve herself. And of course, Mindy never does anything only halfway. In an attempt to prove she isn't materialistic, Mindy goes on a camping trip with Danny, Christina, Casey and Morgan, but that's only the start of Mindy's quest to assert herself in the finale. "Mindy goes through a pretty big physical transformation in order to prove her commitment to her relationship with Casey. She cuts it off, man," Barinholtz says with a laugh. "At one point, Messina makes a joke, 'Oh, now we have the same haircut.'" Yikes! We saw what happened when that prison inmate cut off just one piece of Mindy's hair. If losing it all doesn't scream selfless commitment, we don't know what does! But Mindy isn't the only one who'll be looking a little different in the finale. The pressure of the practice's first triplet delivery combined with frequent deep-fried trips to T.G.I. Friday's with his American girlfriend has caused Jeremy to gain a few pounds. Or, as Barinholtz put it: "He's fat."Though Barinholtz suggested Weeks go method for the transformation, the actor was relieved to achieve Jeremy's weight gain through padding. "It was fun being a bit pudgy," Weeks says. "I was like Nicole Kidman in The Hours with her Oscar-winning prosethetics. And you know, people gave me a lot more cuddles. I think people find me a lot more interesting and vulnerable when I have a tummy, so maybe I'll keep that," he jokes. While we can assume Jeremy will be back to his swarthy self shortly, Mindy's future remains very up in the air. Will she go to Haiti? And even if she does, will this altruistic and self-improvement mentality last? Weeks and Barinholtz sure hope not. "I want to see Mindy making bad decisions. I want to see Mindy being a little selfish. That's the Mindy I love," Barinholtz says. "I appreciate her trying to get better, but at the end of the day, I like it when she's a little worse. I think a lot of us relate to that. It's easy to relate to someone who wants to do the right thing, but sometimes they just don't. "Do you think Mindy should go to Haiti? The Mindy Project finale airs Tuesday at 9:30/8:30c on Fox.
