  • School will soon dismiss for the summer and some youngsters from low-income families in Phillips County will need another source of nutritious meals during the break between sessions. Shield Inc., a non-profit organization out of Memphis, has announced that it will fund a summer food service program in the Elaine community. Shield serves low-income people with disabilities, homeless families, at risk youths and veterans, according to Valerie Bobo, executive director of Shield. “This program,” says Bobo, “will provide meals to all children at no cost, regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability.” The meals will be served at the Resurrected Life Christian Fellowship Church at 300 Lambert St. at Elaine. The schedule of meals will be as follows: •Breakfast will be served Mondays through Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. •Lunch will be served Mondays through Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The summer lunch program will begin this Saturday, June 1 and will continue through Saturday, Aug. 17.
