  • Lakeside Siding Supply earned the nickname 'Orange Crush' with its dominant play this season while winning the 12U league championship. This close-knit group, many of which also finished undefeated in the city basketball league this season, capped another perfect season with a 16-1 victory over Central Arkansas Dental Arts on Tuesday in the city tournament championship game. The Crush, which finished the season with a record of 13-0, never wavered in the title game as pitcher Dillan Creasey retired CADA in order in the top of the first inning, inducing three straight groundouts to Julian Cameron at shortstop, Nick Chaney at first base and Blaze Nelson at third base. Creasey led off the bottom half of the first inning with a walk and he stole his way around to third before scoring on an RBI single off the bat of Brandon Blankenship, who scored moments later when Cameron crushed an RBI double to deep left field. After Chaney reached on a hard line drive turned error, Nelson walked to load the bases for Evan Hackworth, who sliced a 3 RBI double down the right field line, plating Cameron, Chaney and Nelson as the Crush took a 5-0 lead. Drew Bloomfield then drove home Hackworth as Lakeside Siding Supply took a 6-0 lead before CADA pitcher Malachi Miller worked around a double by Hogan Privitt, eventually escaping a bases-loaded jam. Creasey, who limited CADA to only one hit while striking out three and walking three, left two runners stranded in scoring position by recording two consecutive strikeouts in the top of the second. The Crush added four more runs in the bottom of the second as Blankenship singled and scored before Cameron and Nelson each walked and scored. Bloomfield then delivered an RBI single to right field that plated Hackworth, who reached on an error. CADA relief pitcher Luke Wilson, who inherited two base runners, limited the damage with two straight strikeouts, leaving Bloomfield stranded in scoring position. CADA pushed across its only run in the top of the third. Following Jared Kelley's leadoff walk, Adam Martin roped a double to deep center field, but the Crush used a precise relay throw from Cameron and Colin Parson to cut down Kelley at home plate, where Blankenship made the tag to complete the play. Martin moved to third on a groundout by Corey Horton and scored on a passed ball as CADA cut its deficit to 10-1 before Creasey responded with strikeout to end the top half of the third. With just over 10 minutes remaining, Lakeside Siding Supply added six more runs in the bottom of the third before time expired. Zach Glasgow, Harrison Eades and Creasey each walked to ignite the Crush. Glasgow scored on an RBI groundout by Blankenship and Harrison scored on an RBI groundout by Cameron, pushing the Crush's lead to 12-1. Chaney drilled an RBI double to deep center field that scored Creasey then Nelson ripped an RBI single to left field that plated Chaney. Hackworth, who finished with a game-high 4 RBI, drove home Nelson with a single through the hole on left side and Bloomfield followed with an RBI single to center that scored Hackworth as time expired and Lakeside Siding Supply celebrated a 16-1 win and the tournament championship.
