Larry Wayne Batten, 65, of Heber Springs passed away suddenly in his sleep Thursday, June 20, 2013. He was born to Cletus and Avil Batten in Merced, California on December 11, 1947. Larry honorably served his nation through service in the United States Army. He was deployed to serve two tours during the Vietnam War. His love for life was certainly unmatched. Larry thoroughly enjoyed keeping a garden. Just this past deer season, Larry was very proud to have tagged his very first buck. It was an eight point. He never seemed to meet a stranger, and for several years volunteered with Arkansas Hospice. Larry was a loving brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. He is at peace.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Larry is survived by three brothers: Darrell, Donald, and Gene; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 28 at Heber Springs Funeral Home. Visit Larry’s online obituary at www.heberspringsfuneralhome.com or for more info call (501) 887-9152.
