Dessie Marie Blackshear, age 80, of Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Southridge Village Nursing and Rehab Center in Heber Springs. Born in Cleburne County on April 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Duda (Higgs) Lackey.
Mrs. Blackshear was a restaurant owner. She was a member of the Friendship Community Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Blackshear; two children, Joey Blackshear and Phyllis Blackshear; one sister, Bessie Kennedy; and one granddaughter, Jamie Green.
Mrs. Blackshear is survived by
her daughter, Ella Jo Green of Tumbling Shoals;
her sister, Jessie Lee Reeves of Tumbling Shoals;
her grandson, Brian Green of Tumbling Shoals;
her sister-in-law, Zelma Harris of Heber Springs;
and her nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Blackshear is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.
Visitation was held Monday, June 24, at Olmstead Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 25, in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Sam Wildmon officiating. Interment followed in the Chastain Cemetery. Larry Kennedy, Roger Kennedy, Junior Lackey, Wayne Reeves, Cleon Lackey, and Jake Kennedy served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer was Robert Reeves.
