At a recent school board meeting Quitman passed a proposal to build a $5.9 million gym along with a new parking lot. Look for more information on architectural plans for the structure as it becomes available.
Quarterback Christian Reynolds, who completed 114-of-192 passes for 1,628 yards and 20 touchdowns as a junior, officially transferred to Searcy High School on Wednesday.
Reynolds, a two-year starter for the Ramblers, also ran for 1,076 yards and 13 touchdowns on 163 carries last season.
In a conference coaches' poll conducted by Hooten's Arkansas Football, Searcy is picked to finish sixth in the 7A/6A East, which includes North Little Rock, Cabot, Jonesboro, Little Rock Central, West Memphis, Marion and Mountain Home. Rose Bud is picked to finish fifth in the 2-3A Conference, behind Harding Academy, Mayflower, Barton and Riverview.
Zone 3 American Legion Tournament
The nine-team Zone 3 American Legion baseball tournament will continue today at the Heber Springs Sports Complex.
No. 2 seed Pangburn opens tournament play versus No. 7 seed North Little Rock today at 12 p.m.
Pangburn has players from Rose Bud, Midland, Harding Academy, Pangburn, Searcy High School and Riverview.
The second game features No. 3 seed White Hall versus Pocahontas at 2:30 p.m.
Stuttgart, which is the No. 5 seed, meets No. 4 seed Lonoke at 5 p.m. and Heber Springs, which beat Morrilton 9-6 on Tuesday, advances to play top-seeded Clarksville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Two semifinal winner's bracket games start at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, following three loser's bracket games scheduled for 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The tournament continues with games slated for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
