Annie Brooks was threatened with a gun and tied up by assailants.

A Hopewell woman was the victim of an aggravated robbery on Saturday evening.  According to the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a call at 2:19 am Sunday morning regarding a report of a home invasion at the home of Annie Jewell Brooks, 89, of Hopewell.  According to official reports, Brooks “had been awakened in her sleep to see an individual standing over her with a gun.”  Brooks was threatened with the gun and was tied up.  She also allegedly heard more individuals in the house rummaging through her belongings and looking for valuables. 

Investigators spent Sunday and Monday looking for the culprits and by Monday evening five individuals were in custody and almost all the property reported stolen had been recovered.  Tanner Adcock, 19, of Heber Springs, Zackery Smith, 19, of Heber Springs, and BobbyLee Pointer, 19, of Bald Knob were arrested and transported to the Cleburne County Detention Center.  Two juveniles were also arrested and are being held at the Juvenile Detention Center in Batesville.  According to the Sheriff’s Office, the juveniles, whose names are not being released, are being charged as adults. 

The charges being filed against the individuals are aggravated residential burglary, two counts of felony theft of property, and kidnapping.  Bond was set at $200,000.  As of the time of this writing, all of the individuals had not posted bail and were still in the detention centers.
