Randy Carr, Industrial Equipment Maintenance teacher at West Side High School, recently attended an extensive welding class that will allow him to certify West Side students in welding.
Mr. Carr travelled to Troy, Ohio in July and acquired his certification to be a CWE (Certified Welding Educator) and CWI (Certified Welding Inspector). The class was a two week course that taught all aspects of the welding inspection field. After attending all classes he then completed and passed a six hour test that consisted of general knowledge, code book, and visual inspection.
Because Mr. Carr is now a CWE and a CWI inspector he is able to provide students at West Side High School the opportunity to acquire their welder certification when they graduate high school. This will greatly increase West Side graduates’ opportunity for employment as they enter the career field of their choice.
