  • Magazine's Rattlers rolled up 301 rushing yards while beating Quitman 42-16 on Friday night in a non-conference game in Magazine. Quitman battled back with 223 yards through the air, primarily in the second half behind junior quarterback Walker Johnson, who completed 11-of-32 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore receiver Treavor Williams led the Bulldogs in receiving with five catches for 113 yards and one TD, while junior receiver Royce Katzer added seven receptions for 40 yards and a touchdown. Senior H-back Hadley Martin caught two passes out of the backfield for 43 yards and a 40-yard touchdown, while carrying two times for 25 yards. Senior receiver Michael McRae added two catches for 13 yards and classmate Lake Davis had two receptions for 14 yards. Sophomore running back Kyle Thompson led the Bulldogs' ground game with six carries for 19 yards, while classmate Chris Milam added five rushing attempts for 17 yards. Magazine (1-1) finished the game with 373 yards of total offense compared to 322 for Quitman. The Bulldogs wrap up non-conference play at Cedar Ridge on Friday. The Timberwolves (1-1) opened their season with a 41-8 loss to Riverview before bouncing back last week with a 37-20 victory over Clarendon.
