  • Tiffany Aaron of Quitman was recently named one of 60 semifinalists in the 46th Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest.  Aaron needs Cleburne County’s votes to send her to the finals to compete for $1 million prize.

For the first time in the 64-year history of the Bake-Off Contest, America will determine which of the semifinalist recipes will vie for the grand prize. Those 100 finalists will compete at the Bake-Off Contest finals, November 10-12, 2013, at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

The Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest began in 1949, with the first competition at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. New this year, to encourage simpler, original recipes, submissions were limited to seven or fewer ingredients and must take 30 minutes or less to prepare, not including baking or cooling time.

“I've followed the Bake-Off Contest for years,” said Aaron.  “When I saw that the format had changed this year, I decided to give it a try.  I loved the idea of a good challenge.  And, the prize money was definitely a motivation.” When asked how she felt about being named a semi-finalist, Aaron aid “My initial reaction after being notified was shock, then excitement.  The process of becoming a semi-finalist is tedious.  The Bake-Off Contest staff goes to extensive lengths to choose the recipes that move on.  I really never expected to be here at this point in the contest.”

Votes can be placed at www.bakeoff.com.  Voting closes at noon tomorrow.  There is also a Virtual Voting Party on Facebook where you can find voting details and updates regarding the contest at https://www.facebook.com/events/194876680695008/.  Go show your support for Aaron and give her the votes to go to Las Vegas and show them how to cook --  Cleburne County style.
