Richard Layne Tucker died December 9, 2012
Richard Layne Tucker passed away on Sunday December 9, 2012 in Palmdale California leaving behind his family and many friends.
Born September 29, 1930, in Pearson Arkansas Richard was the son of Ida Jackson Tucker and Carl Weyman Tucker of Heber Springs, Arkansas. Richard was married to Minnie Belle Johnson Tucker his High School Sweetheart for 59 years who preceded him in death. He was father to Charles Russell Tucker of Northridge, California, and Patricia Ann Tucker Pollard of Henderson Nevada.
Richard was a retired plumber who worked for the County of Los Angeles for most of his career. His friends from Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey, California and Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital in Watts, California have lost one of their own. After retiring at age 50 he and Minnie moved back to Quitman, and he attended Trade Tech in Searcy where he studied Heating and Air Conditioning. He moved back to California where he applied for and succeeded in getting the Master Mechanical Managers Position, at the California State University Northridge, which he loved. Richard was in the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, a Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 37 in Sun Valley, California, a member of The Amateur Trapshooting Association and a life member of the Sugar Loaf Shriner's Lodge in Heber Springs and The Scimitar Temple of Little Rock.
Richard also known as "Papaw" leaves behind 5 Grandchildren, Katie Tucker Fico of Burbank California, Kelly Tucker of Glendale California and Jon Tucker of Northridge, California as well as Leslie Pollard O'Connell of Benton City, Washington and Jennifer Lynn Pollard McKenzie of Boston, Massachusetts. He also had 6 Great Great Grandchildren whom he enjoyed playing practical jokes, teasing and telling stories to, Jake and Lucas Fico, Averie and Aaron O'Connell, and Rohen and Graeme McKenzie.
Services for Richard will be Friday October 4, 2013, at 10:30am at the Olmstead Chapel in Heber Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heber Springs High School Boys' Basketball Program.
