Charles Wayne Martin, age 82, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Monday, September 30, 2013, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs. Born September 21, 1931, at Floral, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Charley and Glydus (Ferguson) Martin.
Mr. Martin retired as superintendent of the Heber Springs Street Department in 2012 after 42 years of service. He loved his work and the people of Heber Springs. He was a veteran of the United States Army, retiring from military service in 1970. Mr. Martin was a member of First General Baptist Church of Heber Springs.
Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Viola "Bobbie" Martin; three sons, Charles E. Martin, Ronald W. Martin, and Danny J. Martin and his wife, Shannon; one daughter, Glenda Burton and her husband, Buzz; two brothers, Glen Martin and Sherlon Martin and his wife, Norma, all of Heber Springs; seven grandchildren, Jeannie May, Skyler Flores, David Burton, Charles W. Martin, II, Haley Parker, Makenzie Martin, and Adam Martin; four great-grandchildren;
and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Martin is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
A memorial service for Mr. Martin was held Friday, October 4, at 2:00 p.m. in the Olmstead Chapel with Wetzel Stark officiating.
