Verdy Trucel (Trudy) Moreland, 99, was born September 29, 1914 in Heber Springs and passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at White County Medical Center in Searcy.
Trudy was preceded in death by her husband Vester Moreland, sister Leola Pearce, mother and father Goven & Jess Norman.
Trudy is survived by son, Carroll Moreland (Betty), two grandsons Chet Moreland and Stanley Moreland, three great-grandchildren Cody Moreland, Kara Moreland, and Joshua Moreland, two sisters Jessie Staggs and Freda Treat. Nieces Bobbie Sandlin (Ervin), Norma Long (Eddie), Darla Treat – Courtney (Duke), Carla Stapleton (Gary), Nephew Dr. David Staggs (Beverly), and a host of extended family members that she loved dearly.
In her youth Trudy supported the war effort during WWII by working in the Richmond shipyards near San Francisco. She was a real like “Rosie the Riveter”.
Trudy’s true passion was her family. In caring for those she loved, she became an extraordinary homemaker and cook. She tilled the earth to grow the food she served and to decorate her world with flowers.
She was also a talented seamstress, making clothes for her family and creating pieces of art in the form of quilts, table runners, and aprons.
Trudy lived a long and productive life in which her hands were always busy and her heart always full.
Trudy was a member of the Pangburn Church of Christ.
Funeral Serviceswere Saturday, October 12, 2013, at 2pm at Olmstead Funeral Home Chapel. Internment was in Henderson Cemetery.
