  • A Hempstead County man was killed as the result of a collision with a tractor-trailer at a rest stop on Interstate 30 in Hot Spring County early Thursday. Arkansas State Police identified the dead man as Terry Glendening, 64, of 653 Hempstead County Road 8, in Hope. ASP Trooper First Class William Summerville reported that Glendening was driving a 1999 Dodge eastbound on Interstate 30 at the exit ramp to the rest stop at Mile Marker 93 shortly after 4 a.m. Thursday when the accident occurred. Summerville's report states that Glendening's vehicle turned into the rest area from I-30 and immediately collided with the rear of a parked 2001 Peterbuilt tractor trailer operated by Triet Bui, 26, of 8405 Wilcrest, Harris, Texas. The report notes that Bui was not injured in the collision. Details were sketchy in Summerville's report, but weather conditions were reported to be clear and the roadway was dry at the rest area. Glendening was transported to Hot Spring County Medical Center in Malvern where he later died. His body was transported to Hope by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home, where funeral services are pending.
