Friday night was a great night if you are a Central High Cougar fan as the Cougars hit the road to Marianna and secured their second victory this season. Now 2-0, Central defeated the Trojans 79-40. Tikal Smith led the Cougars with 19 points, Ricky Beckwood scored 13 points, Alonzo Murphy scored 12 and Anthony Lewis scored 10 while only one Trojan was able to put up double digits as Andy Jeers scored 10 points. Cougar Coach Willie Jackson told The Helena World, "It was a really competitive game and that is the kind of game that we like to play. They had a lot of speed just like we have and that made it a good game." When asked about the high turnover rate in Friday's game, Jackson noted, "We normally don't make that many turnovers but I think we got a little fatigued, too, and started making turnovers. It was pretty hot in that gym." The Cougar High School basketball team includes five football players that made the transitioned over to Coach Jackson. The coach related that, "They are coming in pretty good shape. Coach Smith did a real good job with them."
