  • Leading by four at half, Riverview outscored Heber Springs by 10 points in the third quarter to pull away with a 67-53 victory on Tuesday, Nov. 26 in Searcy.
The Lady Raiders led 13-12 after the first period, 26-22 at half and 50-36 through three quarters.
"We started slow, got behind 8-0 in the first two or three minutes so we got behind from the get-go and tried to play catch-up the rest of the game," said Lady PanthersCoach Jamey Riddle. "Our defense wasn't very good but they were real quick. Probably the quickest team we have seen so far. Any time we give up 67 points in a girls game it's not good defense."
Guard Hannah Johnson led Heber with 18 points, forward Makenzie Martin followed with 15 and forward Mary Lawrence added 10.
Following Tuesday night's game versus Mayflower, the Lady Panthers (2-2) open 2-4A Conference play Friday at Stuttgart.
The Lady Panthers have won three consecutive league titles.
"I feel pretty good," said Riddle. "We are doing a lot of things good and seeing a lot of different things out of different players. Mary Lawrence is playing tough inside and Hannah Johnson is really doing a good job with her shot. Makenzie Martin has started scoring the last couple of games and that's what we need out of her.
"Then we've got a couple coming off the bench that have really helped us out. We will have to see, it's always tough playing down at Stuttgart. We will have to play good solid defense down there and make some shots," added Riddle.
