The Heber Springs Police Department has reported that an arrest warrant was issued for Robert Stanley Freeman, 33, of Alexander, on Thursday, December 5th, in connection with the aggravated robbery that occurred at McDonald's on December 2nd. Freeman was taken into custody by the Saline County Sheriff’s Office on Friday. According to Heber Springs Police Chief Bobby Walker, detectives with Heber Police coordinated with the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office and the Saline County Sheriff’s Office to identify and apprehend Freeman in connection with the robbery.
According to the Heber Springs Police Department, the armed robbery took place shortly after 11am last Monday outside of the fast food restaurant. The suspect reportedly flashed a gun at a McDonald’s employee that was carrying an undisclosed amount of cash. The man then ran south with the cash behind a local business.
Three people, including one from a neighboring business, chased the man. Two of the women pursuing the man suffered minor injuries from a knife that was carried by the assailant. The man then jumped at fence, at which point he got away.
As of Tuesday morning, Freeman was still in the Saline County jail on hold for transport to Cleburne County. His bond is set at $500,000.
