Robert Claywell died December 4, 2013

Robert "Bob" Eugene Claywell, 86, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, formerly of Onarga, IL., died on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Southridge Nursing Home in Heber Springs.  His funeral service will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Gilman, IL.,  on Saturday December 14, 2013 at 11:30 A.M. with Rev. Dr. Robert Dealey and Pastor Pete Hinrich officiating.  Burial in the Onarga Cemetery, Onarga.  Visitation from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. Saturday, December 14, 2013.  Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Hope Lutheran Building Fund or the Brian Claywell Scholarship.

Bob was born on October 19, 1927 in Donovan, IL., to Farrell and Ilah Summers Claywell.  His childhood was spent in Loda, IL., and then in Watseka, IL.  He attended schools in Loda and Watseka.  Bob attended Electrical School in Chicago.   He was an self-employed grain farmer.
He married Lorna L. Ferdinand on April 19, 1953 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Schwer, IL.  She survives.
Other survivors included - a son - Michael (Kathy) Claywell of Farmington, Minnesota.
Two grandchildren - Cameron Claywell and Kristen (Wes) Szempruch of Minnesota.
A sister - Donna McCoy of Biloxi, Mississippi.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, son - Brian and sister - Betty.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Schwer, Milford, IL., then St. Paul Lutheran Church, Gilman and currently Hope Lutheran Church in Heber Springs, AR.  Bob served on church councils and helped where needed.

He and his wife moved to Cleburne County, Heber Springs, Arkansas in 1990.
Bob served in the Navy from October 1945 until August 1946 and then again from October 1950 until February 1952.  He served aboard the U.S.S. Bradford  during the Korean War.
He liked to hunt and after moving to Arkansas he also enjoyed fishing and golf.
