West Side forward Bryanna Smith scored a game-high 19 points and guard Azziah Brothers added 10 in a 40-15 rout of Midland on Monday in 1A-2 South Conference play in Greers Ferry.
Applying full court pressure, the Jr. Lady Eagles jumped out to a 6-0 lead as guard Sidney Moore hit a short jumper, Smith converted a steal into a layup and Brothers sank a 19-foot jumper from left corner.
The Junior Lady Mustangs closed their deficit to four before Smith drilled a half court shot at the buzzer, giving West Side a 10-3 advantage after one quarter of play.
Midland whittled back within four late in the second quarter on a bucket in the paint from post player Rachel Puentez and stick back by guard Olivia Floyd, but Brothers countered with four straight, including a deep three-pointer from left wing, giving the Jr. Lady Eagles a 19-11 lead at half.
West Side busted the game wide open over the next six minutes, outscoring Midland 11-1 as Smith dominated with 10 points while driving into the lane for two baskets and converting three offensive rebounds into buckets.
Forward Claire Parker opened the fourth quarter with a turnaround jumper from left side, Brothers added a pair of free throws and guard Lailonna Blaylock nailed a three-pointer from left corner as the Jr. Lady Eagles glided to a 40-15 victory.
Puentez led Midland with six points and Floyd had four.
