  • Ark. County Quorum Court to hold first 2014 meeting

  • The Arkansas Quorum Court will have their first meeting of the new year Tuesday with eight items listed as new business to discuss.
    The meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. at Arkansas County Courthouse in DeWitt. All meetings are open to the public. The Quorum Court Budget and Finance Committee will be meeting prior to the regular meeting at 8:30 a.m. in the courthouse conference room.
    The justices of the peace will receive updates from five departments within the county. Those reports will include: Juvenile department facilities, work release and transport log report from Arkansas County Sheriff Allen Cheek, office of emergency management from Shanda Harris, 9-1-1 from Nan Davenport, county road department from Randall Kidd and Mark Orman along with an update on the recycling grant program from Ruby Allen.
    Members will also discuss the court delegate for the March 15 meeting.
    There will be two ordinances up for discussion on Tuesday. They include appropriating the special revenue fund with the juvenile detention grant for $29,540.33 and appropriating the special revenue fund with the local law enforcement block grant for $4,300.

    Also on Tuesday an elected officials and chief deputies training meeting will be held at 1 p.m. at the circuit courts court room, which is also in DeWitt.
